Attention for Machining Stainless Steel Pipes

Sep 01, 2022

As stainless steel pipes become more and more widely used, we will process stainless steel pipes into various specifications, according to different needs. Usually, our common stainless steel pipe processing methods include cutting processing, welding processing, bending processing, flaring and shrinking processing.

1. Stainless Steel Pipe Cutting Processing

When cutting stainless steel pipes, generally 6-8 meters long steel pipes are processed. This processing method can be said to be the most common type of processing in stainless steel pipe processing. In general, we cut with a grinder, and sometimes with a circular saw. Of course, as the processing accuracy requirements become higher and higher, there are more and more cases of precision cutting with CNC machine tools. Precise cutting can cut the stainless steel tube to the shortest 2mm without burrs. The most important thing is that it can save a lot of cost, so generally speaking, we often use this cutting method when high cutting precision is required.

2. Stainless Steel Pipe Welding Processing

Welding is also an indispensable processing method in stainless steel pipe processing. The most important thing about this processing method is to choose the most suitable welding wire. For example, when welding 201 stainless steel pipe, it is necessary to use 201 material welding wire, and 304 welding wire should naturally use 304 stainless steel pipe material welding wire. If the selection of welding wire is wrong, it will greatly affect the quality of the finished stainless steel pipe.

3.  Stainless Steel Pipe Bending Processing

As we all know, many stainless steel elbows are actually made of straight pipes. This way of changing from elbows to straight pipes is bending. In detail, there are many processing methods for this processing method. The most commonly used methods are as follows, platform bending, manual bending, tension bending, core pulling bending, arch bending and so on. Be extra careful when bending, and adjust different parameters such as strength according to different stainless steel materials when operating the bending machine.

4. Stainless Steel Pipe Flaring and Shrinking Processing

As we all know, the ductility of stainless steel pipes is very good, so it can be easily expanded and shrinked. Of course, this processing method has relatively high requirements on the copper content of stainless steel pipes. Therefore, when purchasing stainless steel pipes, be sure to explain the processing purpose and specific processing requirements to the manufacturer. Well, let's talk about this with everyone.
